Playlist of the Week: Songs to Listen to During Your Extra Cirrics

Apparently January is like, Official Hobby Month or something. So what better way to celebrate your hobbies and after-school clubs and extra cirricular activities than with songs to get you pumped up for them? Ya know, since the last thing you probs wanna do right now is stay later at school, never mind go at all? So for this week’s playlist, check out 10 songs to play while you’re cooking, dancing, sports-ing and more.

1. High School Musical — “Getcha Head in the Game”
We haven’t listened to old-school HSM since like, it came out in 2006, but if you’re on a basketball team like Troy was or are just cheering on your boyf like Gabriella did, this pump-up jam is just perfect.

2. Christina Aguilera — “Candyman”
If you spend your weekday afternoons in the kitchen, blast on some Xtina while you cook. We know this song is more about, like, a sweet and sugary man than sweet and sugary food, but let’s just pretend for a sec, mmkay?!

3. Justin Bieber ft. Jaden Smith — "Never Say Never"
This duet is the theme song to Jaden's movie, Karate Kid. The video also features tons of impressive karate chops. Play the song in your next karate class and your sensei will love you, for sure. Plus, you just might be on your way to black belt status.

4. Big Time Rush — "Dance Dance Dance"
Ok, so there are like, 8,473 songs about dancing. But BTR's cover of this classic Beach Boys song is pretty much our fave. Maybe your dance teacher will even let you choreograph a number to this tune? Or let you bring Carlos, Kendall, Logan and James into class for a personalized lesson? Dream big, kids.

5. Glee cast — "Loser Like Me"
The kids of New Directions have gotten slushies thrown in their faces many a time, but you know what? Glee clubs are actually pretty cool. And if you're in one, we suggest jamming out to the gleek's original song, "Loser Like Me." It's catchy, sure, but the main reason it's a must for your playlist is because it's empowering and fun and will basically prove what we just said above. Do it!

6. Jonas Brothers — "Play My Music"
But if you're more into playing music than singing it, this JoBros song (from the orig Camp Rock!) has your name all over it. They write their own songs, play their own instruments, and just want people to play their stuff! You can so relate, right?!

7. LMFAO, — "Party Rock Anthem"
If you're the gal who can be found at the gym once school lets out, truth is you probs already have this LMFAO classic (from, uh, last year) on your playlist. But let us tell you why it's perfect to work out to – it'll get you up and going in no time. Plus, when those guys are shufflin', you can do it too, no judgment. Swear.

8. Nickelback — “Photograph”
Photography Club your thang? Put on some old-school Nickelback. We know this song is kinda old literal and whatever, but it’s all about the memories that come with looking at photos and all that jazz. Good stuff, guys.

9. Madonna — “Material Girl”
We know there’s some of you out there who just don’t have extra cirricular activies. Your afternoons consist of, um, well, shopping, maybe? So for you, put on this Madonna fave. And realize it’s OK to like nice things, but that you can’t put “Professional Shopper” on your college applications. Just sayin’.

10. Katy Perry — "Last Friday Night"
Because, let's be real. At the end of a long week of homework and after-school activities, all you wanna do is party, Katy Perry style. But uh, you didn't hear it from us…

So, which songs are on your after-school playlist? What kinda extra cirrics are you involved in? Go go go!
