New Year, New You: Taking Your Style From Comfort Zone to Couture DRAFT

As you rung in the New Year dressed in your sequin, asymmetrical one shoulder dresses, I'm sure you finalized your list of resolutions. Among the "I will work out until I have Adrianna Lima abs" and the "Make the Dean's List" goals, do not forget to step up your look for 2012. I hate to go all crazy department store on you (It's January 14th? Time to set up for Valentine's Day!) but the fashion industry is always 6 months ahead of us, normal folk. The elite designers of the trade have challenged us with innovative, advanced looks that put oh-so 2011 trends, like flare legged jeans and feathers, to shame. What? You can't afford Roberto Cavalli? No worries fellow broke college students; I've recreated the looks with budget friendly brands. Prepare to rock 2012 with these inventive spring trends:

Betsey Johnson Spring 2012

What's Out: The Blazer/Skinny Jean/UGG Boots

What's In: The Blazer/Tank Dress/Suede Lace Ups

This Betsey Johnson original is a giant step up from the boring blazer over skinny jeans with a pair of classic cut Uggs. Pair a tank dress with a fitted blazer and a layered necklace. Channel your inner-Betsey with some suede lace up heels and a lightning bolt ring.

Badgley Mischka Spring 2012

What's Out: Leather Jacket/Sequin Top/Jean Shorts

What's In: Leather Jacket/Bandeu Top/ Hot Pants

This year, forget the overdone mini skirt, tank top tucked in, leather jacket over top club wear. Please welcome back the ever so risqué: Hot pants. The undies-shorts hybrid will give the illusion of legs for miles. Pair your favorite leather jacket with a bandeau top and match with a hot pair of shoes. Is that Amber Rose over there rocking her model bod? Oh wait, that's just you donning this beautiful ensemble.

Kanye West Spring/Summer 2012

What's Out: Blue Denim/Fitted Tops/Nude Heels

What’s In: Patterned Bottoms/Loose Layers/Bold Heels

In 2010, colorful denim became a top trend. This year, hold the focus on your bottoms as opposed to the top of your outfit. Pair pattered denim with a solid colored top, a bold colored pair of heels, and a minimalistic piece of jewelry.

L.A.M.B. Gwen Stefani Spring 2012

What's Out: Neutrals/Long Sleeve/Clutch

What's In: Metallics/3 Quarter Length/Totes

Ditch the Khakis, coal, and corduroy for some expressive metallic this season. Go for a basic top with 3 quarter length sleeves that allow room for funky bracelets. As much as I love a good clutch, it's a bitch trying to fit everything into one-so welcome back boxy totes!

If 2012 is the end of the world, then Betsey Johnson, Badgley Mishka, Kanye & Gwen Stefani have definitely saved the best trends for last. Step out of your comfort zone with these looks and make Spring of 2012 your most stylish season yet!

Grey's Anatomy Face-Off: Regular Alex Karev vs. Alternate Reality Alex Karev

Yeah, yeah, the Grey's Anatomy alternate reality episode, Season 8, Episode 13: "If/Then," promises to take us on an emotional journey through the looking glass to the Seattle Grace-Mercy West that could have been. It should show us what makes each character themselves, and what they would be missing if life was different.

That's all well and good, but now let's talk about the important changes: The fashion! We're kidding (kinda), but we have been having a lot of fun looking at the alternate reality sneak peek pictures and analyzing everyone's different haircuts, makeup, and clothing choices. If style is the window to the soul, then these docs definitely headed down different paths.

Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), for instance, appears to have traded his brooding bad-boy style for adorable glasses and a big smile. We have to admit, as much as we love angsty Alex, we might like the cheery, alternate reality version even more. It's certainly a big change.

What do you think of Alex's alternate reality getup?

How Much Do Hollywood's Highest-Paid Actors and Actresses Make? A Battle of the Sexes!

Sad news, ladies: Famous females are losing this battle — on both the big and small screens.

Hollywood’s top seven highest-paid actors all rake in more than Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker, who tie for first on Forbes’s list of Tinseltown’s 10 highest-paid actresses. And TV’s top-earning actresses — Tina Fey and Eva Longoria — make as much as NCIS silver fox Mark Harmon, who comes in at number four on the roster of highest-paid TV actors.

Combined, the actors earn 68 percent more than the actresses.

Sheesh, boys’ club much? Hollywood needs to get with the program and move into the 21st century. Like, yesterday.

Katherine Heigl will really, really return to Grey's Anatomy (VIDEO)

We already know that Katherine Heigl is not the role of Dr. Izzie Stevens in grey's Anatomy Narada episode reprise (season 8, Episode 13: "If/Then"). In a recent interview with E!, Katherine admits that she would say "absolutely" Yes if greys creator of Shonda Rhimes asked to come back. Here's what she said:

"I really, really, really want to see where is [Izzie]." I would like to know just what happened to her and where she attended and what it does now. "My idea is that she actually out takes it and finds some success really well in various hospitals, because she always was ground to a halt and a step behind the 8-ball and I would like to see that girls like, any power to take back."

Whoa! Katherine said that she do not know if there really is considering is how many new characters and storylines in the cards but it right now on the grey.

If these rumors about the show stars, Ellen Pompeo (Meredith), and Patrick Dempsey (Derek) again after this season to be true, we would accept Izzie back on the small screen. We only hope that it is followed by spirits not.

Grey's Anatomy Season 8, Episode 12 Sneak Peek: Sister Trouble

It looks like Grey's Anatomy is moving away from the drama and back to the wacky patients in Season 8, Episode 12: "Hope for the Hopeless."

In this sneak peek we get a look at the patient(s) of the week: a pair of sisters. One needs a liver transplant, the other is giving her the organ — but she's super passive aggressively annoyed about it. Yeah, yeah, she had to cancel a vacation, but it's to save her sister's life. We already don't like her.

The only good part about the whining sister? She's played by Peri Gilpin, AKA Roz from Fraiser. Hi Roz!

Shonda Rhimes Says She Knows How Grey's Anatomy Will End, But Not When It Will End

We’ve all been wondering about the end of Grey's Anatomy, so when we caught up with the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes at the ABC TCA All Star party we coulnd’t help but ask what she thought about the future of her medical drama.

“I know how the show is going to end,” she says. ”When that end is coming, I don’t know. It’s not my decision to make. (ABC Entertainment Group president) Paul Lee has said he wants the show to go on for 10 or 15 more years, which sounds hilarious to me, but you never know.”

While Shonda tells us she knows which cast members she has in mind for the ending, she hasn’t started thinking about how an early departure by the original cast would affect her plan. So rather than interrogate her about that ‘What If’ we asked about the upcoming ‘What If’ episode (Season 8, Episode 13: “If/Then”).

“I know people are very much obsessed with that,” she tells us. “We’ve been talking about it kind of a lot, but then one of our writers, Stacy McKee, came in and really pitched hard on the episode and was like, I want to do this. It wasn’t even like she could write it, but she was passionate about it.”

“We started talking about what would make it interesting, and I said, it’s only interesting is if we could see what happens, if Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) can become a bright and shiny person versus a dark and twisty person.”

As Wetpaint Entertainment previously reported, Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens) isn’t part of the “What If” universe, and now we can add another original to that tally.

“George O’Malley (T.R. Knight) is dead,” says Shonda, but then takes it back. “Well, you know what? In this universe, I don’t think George O’Malley is dead, but George O’Malley is, in fact, no longer at the hospital in this universe.”

In the real universe it’s about to be an intense spring for almost everyone involved.
“I think Meredith and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) as parents is going to be very, very interesting,” she tells us. “Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) are headed for a blow-up that they’ve been heading for since the beginning of the season. It’s going to be very interesting.”

“Poor Teddy (Kim Raver) is struggling to find her way out of grief which is going to be, I think, really moving and really poignant and beautiful, how she chooses to deal with all of that. We’re bringing back Catherine Avery (Jackson’s mom) who is played by Debbie Allen because the cast loves her so much. And we’re really focusing on Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) [and]his growth.”

Considering Alex Karev’s M.O. for the past seven years, let’s hope she means growth in the spiritual sense!

Katherine Heigl's Advice for Adoptive Parents

Since Baby Zola's adoption going through as been the source of much joy on our favorite medical drama, we figured now was a good time to dish on former Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl's (Izzie Stevens) real life adopted daughter, Naleigh.

Katherine and husband Josh Kelley adopted Baby Naleigh from Korea. In a recent interview with Scholastic Parent and Child Magazine, Katherine revealed that the transition wasn't easy, because Naleigh initially had a hard time connecting with her new mom.

"It takes time for a child to trust this new situation and to trust you," Katherine explained. "My advice is don't be discouraged. The reward is so great."

As for the future, Katherine assured the world that Naleigh won't be following in the footsteps of over-papered celebrity kids like Suri Cruise.

"[Josh and I] both have families who believe in character integrity and morality," she explained. "Not to be overindulged, to be respectful of parents... We'll have to work a little bit harder to keep Naleigh grounded and to make sure she understands how blessed she is — how blessed we all are."

For once, Katherine sounds truly grateful. We're glad adoption has brought her as much real life happiness as Zola brings MerDer on the show.

Grey's Anatomy Season 8, Episode 12 Sneak Peek: Adele Returns

We love Loretta Devine, but it looks like Adele's return to Grey's Anatomy in Season 8, Episode 12: "Hope for the Hopeless" will be hard to handle.

In this sneak peek, a very confused Adele shows up to Seattle Grace-Mercy West demanding to see Richard (James Pickens Jr.). That would be fine, except she had to be driven to the hospital by a concerned neighbor, because she was trying to walk the seven miles from her house.

Our hearts are already broken.

Spotted: Jesse Williams in a Sexy Black Suit at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards After Party

The only thing hotter than Grey's Anatomy's Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery) in a fitted suit, is Jesse Williams in an all-black, fitted suit.

Spotted looking sleek on the red carpet at The Weinstein Company's 2012 Golden Globe Awards after-party at The Beverly Hilton hotel on Sunday, the blue-eyed actor made a dramatic statement in black pants, a black jacket, a black shirt, and a black tie.

All he needs to complete the look is us on his arm, and he'll be good to go!

Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: Calzona Will Be Having ''Sexy Time'' in Valentine's Day Episode

Last season, we saw Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) go through the ringer on Grey's Anatomy. This season, series creator Shonda Rhimes says, they'll remain the "stable couple" while we get to see other sides of them show through. Translation: they get to be docs again!

Remember how, before Callie spent all that time cuddling her adorable "crack baby," she was a hardcore, building-bones-from-nothing Ortho Attending? Uh, yeah! We'll get to see a return to the Dr. Torres of yore now that her home, family, and marital life have been sorted out.

"We’re exploring Callie as a doctor, which has been really fun," Shonda told TV Line. "To see her being a badass bone surgeon has been great."

Same goes for Arizona while on the hunt for a Peds Fellow. Adds Shonda, "Arizona is dealing with training Karev (Justin Chambers) and what all that means."

But, we'll still see some good old-fashioned couple-y bickering on the Valentine's Day episode, in which Calzona tries to pawn the baby off on Mark (Eric Dane) for the night in order to snag themselves some "sexy time," which, for them, we're guessing, involves beer, pizza, and Callie recounting her amahzing surgeries for the day. Because nothing says bowchickawowow like a carb coma.
